Purpose:
Report the refractive status and visual outcome of two patients with pellucid marginal degeneration whom underwent intraocular toric lens implantation following crystalline lens extraction.

Methods:
The therapeutic approach of patients with corneal ectasia varies depending on the severity of their clinical condition and may include the use of glasses or contact lenses, the placement of intrastromal rings, techniques of cross-linking of collagen and intraocular lens implantation. We report two cases of pellucid marginal degeneration (PMD) successfully treated with impantation of toric intraocular lens (AT TORBI 709M) following crystalline lens extraction. The first patient was a 62-year-old female with best corrected visual acuity of the right eye in the of 10/10 with -2,25 -7,00 x 60ŗ. The second case was a 64-year-old female. The refraction in right eye was -6,75 x 80ŗ with a best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) of 6/10.
Results:
The postoperative refraction of the first patient was +0,50 x 10ŗ with visual acuity of 10/10. The second case patient achieved postoperative visual acuity of 7/10 and six months latter achieved a visual acuity of 10/10 without optical correction. No surgical or postoperative complications occured.
Conclusions:
The therapeutic approach of patients with irregular astigmatism is a challenge especially in patients with ectasia. In this case we chose the solution presented taking into account the age of the patients, BCVA and stability of clinical condition. Both patients are very satisfied with the outcome. A longer follow-up is required to confirm the maintenance of this clinical result. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE?: No
