Abstract Details

Purpose:

The purpose of this study was to check for five different methods of assessment of astigmatism and axis with auto refractometer, auto keratometer, topography, wavefront and manifest refraction

Setting:

Kudret Eye Hospital

Methods:

The study included 217 eyes of 115 patients who were evaluated for excimer laser procedures. Auto refractometer, auto keratometer, manifest refractive, topographic and wave-front data was evaluated.

Results:

Manifest, auto refractive, keratometric, topographic and wavefront cylinder were -0.97 D, -0.99 D, -1.27 D, -1.21 D, -1.07 D respectively. Auto refractometer and manifest cylinder were not statistically different (p=0. 291). As well keratometric and topographic cylinders were statistically similar (p=0.112). Auto refractive, Auto keratometric, topographic and ,wavefront , axis were 108.4, 96.1, 95.0, 91.6 degrees respectively. Manifest axis were 112.2 degree. Manifest and auto refractometer axis were statistically similar (p=0.193). Keratometric, topographic and wavefront axis were statistically similar (p = 0.570 to 0.825).

Conclusions:

Manifest refraction showed similarity with auto refractometer measurements in normal ametropic eyes. Wavefront axis showed similarity with keratometry and topography. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE?: No
