Purpose:
To assess the effectiveness of selective laser trabeculoplasty in treatment of primary open-angle glaucoma patients.
Setting:
Department of Ophthalmology Medical Center Tractor Plant Minsk, Belarus
Methods:
48 patients (56 eyes) with POAG I-II stage, 57,4 % were women. Length of follow up was 7 months. All patients underwent selective laser trapeculoplasty (the size of spot was 400 micron, single laser impulse 0,8 mJ. 50 spots were applied in lower hemisphere of anterior chamber angle).
Results:
Reliable decrease of IOP was registered in patients with POAG I and II stage in amount of 3 mm Hg in 3-4 weeks follow-up. Frequency of hypotensive eyedrops instillation was decreased. Patients mentioned eye comfort level improvement.
Conclusions:
Selective laser trabeculoplasty is safe and effective method in treatment of POAG patients. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE?: No
