Abstract Details

Purpose:

Observation of patients with normotensive glaucoma and arterial hypotension

Setting:

Kharkiv Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, Ophthalmology Department

Methods:

The main symptoms of normotensive glaucoma (NG) is chronic optic neuropathy. Progression of optic disc (OD) atrophy depends of intraocular tissue and OD perfusion. Intraocular perfusion (IP) level depends of arterial tension (AT). If AT is lower, IP is lower also and risk of glaucoma's OD atrophy is higher. 246 patients with NG and arterial hypotension (AH) were observed.

Results:

Results of the observation showed: -reduction of common periferal vessels resistance in 47% -reduction of perfusive tension in 30% -reduction of retinal nutrition balance in 65% -reduction of intraocular liquid production in 35% -reduction of target tension in 42%

Conclusions:

AH is a risk factor in NG development. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE?: No
