Purpose:
Corvis (Oculus Corvis ST) non contact tonometry has been shown to measure the intraocular pressure (IOP) accurately and reliably. The aim of this study was to find out if CORVIS remains accurate when it is used on regularly shaped corneas while a thin, daily disposable hydrogel contact lens (CL) is worn.
Setting:
Narayana Netralaya, Rajaji Nagar, Bangalore
Methods:
Methods: This was a prospective, randomised study and included 49 patients (49 right eyes): 33 females and 16 males. The age varied from 18 to 46 years (mean: 25.43±5.12 years). IOP measurements were taken with and without a daily disposable hydrogel CL (?0.50 D) hilafilcon B, in situ (using CORVIS), with a randomised order of measurements.
Results:
The average value for the IOP measurements without CL was 13.49±2.13mmHg, and with CL in situ it was 13.11±1.96mmHg. The mean difference was 0.38mmHg and found to be statistically
significant but not clinically significant (p = 0.024). The BlandAltman plot showed a maximum difference in IOP of +1.9mmHg and
?2.7mmHg (CI 0.95).
Conclusions:
Conclusion: Accurate measurement of IOP by corvis tonometry can get through a hydrogel contact lens. The presence of thin hydrogel CL did not affect the accuracy of IOP. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE?: No
