Purpose:
After the combination of LASIK and lens surgery has extended the spektrum of refraktive treatments (" Bioptics" ), it was logical to examine the possibilities of the femtosecond laser. In addition to the preparation of the lasikflap with the femtosecond laser it is possible to do corneal incisions in cataract surgery, capsulorhexis and the crushing of the lens nucleus with the same laser. The concept LASICAT (" lasers in cataract surgery" ) has been presented 2004 by the author. Every method has advantages and disadvantages. After the technical realization of the LASICAT-concept as " femto-phaco" or " femto-cataract" it is necessary to point out limits and contraindications of this method.
Setting:
nn
Methods:
Separate working steps as well as the advantages of applying the femtosecond laser will be presented. On individual examples limited organic aspects will be illuminated.
Results:
To the limiting factors belong for example corneal scars, subluxation lentis, hard nucleus, narrow orbita and increased bulbus reducibility.
Conclusions:
Beside the advantages of applying the femtosecond laser in cataract surgery (" LASICAT" , " femto phaco" ) there are organic limiting factors. These should be taken into account for planning the surgery. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE?: No
