Abstract Details

Purpose:

: To assess the visual quality after bilateral implantation of the CT Asphina Violet intraocular lens (IOL; Carl Zeiss Meditec, Jena, Germany) and compare with bilateral implantation of the Acrysof IQ / Alcon Pharmaceuticals/ in patients with hyperopia, myopia and emetropia.

Setting:

Eye department NEMOS Sokolov Hospital, Czech Republic, Eye department Havlickov Brod, Czech Republic

Methods:

: Fifty eyes of 25 patients had bilateral implantation of the CT Asphina Violet IOL and fifty eyes of 25 patients had bilateral implantation of the Acrysof IQ. Monocular and binocular best spectacle-corrected visual acuity (BSCVA), best distance-corrected near visual acuity (BCNVA), and distance contrast sensitivity (CSF) under photopic (85 cd/m(2)) and mesopic (5 cd/m2) conditions were determined. Intraoperative and postoperative complications, measurement on the OPD scan were determined, psychometric tests / quality of vision questionnnaire/ were analyzed.

Results:

: At the 6-month postoperative visit, there were no statistically significant differences in monocular and binocular BSCVA. Monocular and binocular BCNVA were comparable between both groops. There were some differences between groups in binocular CSF under mesopic and photopic conditions

Conclusions:

Results indicate, that the CT Asphina Violet and Acrysof IQ provides very good distance visual acuity and contrast sensitivity was in normal limits with some differences in both groops. Patient satisfaction and acceptance of the lenses is very high, but in a tolerance we can see some diference. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE?: No
