Purpose:
To evaluate the depth of the stromal demarcation line after corneal collagen cross-linking (CXL) using anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT).
Setting:
Institute of Vision and Optics, Faculty of Medicine, University of Crete, Greece
Methods:
In this prospective, interventional case series 15 patients (17eyes) with progressive keratoconus were enrolled. All patients underwent uneventful CXL treatment. Stromal demarcation line depth was measured centrally, 3mm temporally and 3mm nasally by two independent observers using AS-OCT at one month postoperatively in all patients.
Results:
Mean central depth of the demarcation line was 267.12 ± 56.61 ?m, mean nasal depth was 194.55 ± 31.38 ?m and mean temporal depth was 191.57 ± 33.8 ?m. There was a statistical significant difference (p<0.05) between the central and both the nasal and temporal depth of the demarcation line (related samples Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test). There was no statistical significant difference (p>0.05) between nasal and temporal depth of the demarcation line (related samples Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test).
Conclusions:
Mean depth of the stromal demarcation line after CXL treatment is greater centrally than nasal and temporal. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE?: No
