Purpose:
To report outcome and complication of a case of iris prosthesis for sectorial defect resulted from excision of iris melanoma.
Setting:
King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital
Methods:
A 30 years old who had iris melanoma excision and developed inferior sectorial defect. A custom made iris prosthesis matching the color of the iris was fashioned and sutured to the original iris.
Results:
Good visual outcome and cosmetic appearance was obtained. Mild sectorial corneal edema and low grade anterior uveitis were encountered with four years follow-up.
Conclusions:
Although iris defect can be successfully treated with cosmetically prepared color match iris prosthesis, however mild anterior uveitis and low endothelial cell count may result from iris prosthesis. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE?: No
