Abstract Details

Purpose:

To analyze refractive outcomes of strategically combined INTRACOR and SUPRACOR in Presbyopia with different preoperative conditions.

Setting:

Hanbit Eye Clinic, Jeonju, South KOREA

Methods:

Eyes scheduled for INTRACOR(520F femtosecond laser) and SUPRACOR(T217P Excimer laser) presbyopic correction were strategically assigned based on preoperative consultation and examinations. 4 patients had INTRACOR for one eye and SUPRACOR for another eye. Statistical analysis was performed. The INRACOR treatment is indicated for patients with a MRSE +0.25DS to +1.00DS with cylinder less than 0.50D. The SUPRACOR treatment is indicated for patients with a MRSE +1.00DS to +4.00DS with cylinder less than 2.00D. Measured outcomes include safety, efficacy, predictability, uncorrected distance, near visual acuity over a 6 month follow-up period and a patient questionnaire at the end of 6 month. This study was based on comparison and analysis of Mixed treatment and Single mode treatment.

Results:

At 6 month follow-up, MRSE was found to be -0.25D in the INTRACOR eyes and -0.50D in SUPRACOR eyes. At 6 month post-operatively, the mean UCDVA and UCNVA in the INTRACOR and SUPRACOR eyes was 0.9, J3 and 1.0, J2 in the INTRACOR and SUPRACOR eyes respectively. OQAS II test showed improvement in both near and intermediate visions in both eyes with high patient satisfaction rates. Patients were more satisfied with UCDNA & UCNVA based on Binocular test.

Conclusions:

Presbyopic correction surgery is an absolute need to improve the visual demands of presbyopic patient. A careful selection of the presbyopic treatment algorithm is important to achieve high satisfaction from patients. Strategic Combination of INTRACOR and SUPRACORE proved to be a safe and effective procedure, which provides improved uncorrected near and intermediate vision while maintaining or improving uncorrected distance vision.
