Purpose:
To appreciate the efficiency and safety the refractive changes after crosslinking in cases of keratoconus.
Setting:
Department of Ophthalmology Medical Center Tractor Plant Minsk, Belarus
Methods:
31 eyes (29 patients) to with of II-III stage progressing keratoconus were exposed to crosslinking procedure at presence of riboflavin. The majority of patients was made by women 53,8 %. Length of follow up was 8-38 months. The cornea was shined with light with length of a wave 370-380 nm at patients of the first group (14 eyes), the second group (17 eyes) with length of a wave 440-450 nm.
Results:
Reliable changes of thickness of a cornea, an average spherical equivalent, data of keratometry at all patients were not registered. Reliable decrease of size of an astigmatism within 2,0 D and increase of visual acuity without and with correction were established in both groups.
Stabilization of disease was noted at all patients throughout supervision terms.
Conclusions:
Corneal crosslinking is safe and effective method in treatment of keratoconus. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE?: No
