Purpose:
Purpose of this study are to evaluate the effect and stability of LPIs in reducing preexisting astigmatism at the time of phacoemulsification.
Setting:
Eye Clinic Clinical Hospital Center " Sestre milosrdnice" Zagreb Croatia
Methods:
Reviwed 12 patients 10 eyes who had limbal relaxing incisions during cataract surgery ,with pre-existing astigmatism of 1-2 diopter. Assessments were made preoperatively ,1 and 3 and 6 months postoperatively,outcome measures include uncorrected distance visual acuity(UCDVA) and best corrected distance visual acuity(BCDVA) and keratometric astigmatism measures.
Results:
The mean preoperative and postoperative refractive astigmatism was 1.50 diopters(D)(± 0.75D) and 0.25 D( ± 0.25 D).There were no serious postoperative complications.
Conclusions:
Limbal relaxing incisions provide a viable option for correcting preexisting astigmatism at the time of cataract surgery with mild complications. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE?: No
