Purpose:
To evaluate customized Trans-epithelial ablations in cross-linking followed by Trans-Epithelial Cross-Linking.
Setting:
Ambulatory Eye Centre (Laser Eye Centre)
Methods:
Patients with progressive Keratoconus were identified and Trans-epithelial corneal regularization was done on IVIS platform with special software to regularize the surface of the cornea and the apex.
After one month Trans-epithelial collagen cross-linking was performed with 18 volts per cubic mm Peschke device for 5 min. Maximum follow up is of about 9 months
Results:
Study involved about 31 patients in treated eye. Pre-op and Post-op corrected and uncorrected visual acuity, Pachymetry, epithelial healing, stromal haze, demarcation line and Zernike and Fourier analysis was noted.
Conclusions:
Trans-Epithelial Corneal regularization followed by collagen cross-linking is a very good option to offer a therapeutic treatment for progressive Keratoconus and in this series not a single eye progressed towards Keratoconus in 9 months. There were no epithelial complications and could not reflect many patients and managed give contact lenses in some of them. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE?: No
