Abstract Details

Purpose:

To evaluate the clinical results of Alcon AcrySof® IQ ReSTOR® Multifocal Toric Intraocular Lens (IOL) in patients with corneal astigmatism greater than 1 diopter.

Setting:

Department of Ophtalmology , Cerrahpasa Medical School, Istanbul University, Istanbul , Turkey

Methods:

This study included 12 cataract patients with corneal astigmatism greater than 1 diopter. After evaluation and detection of the eyes that are suitable for implantation of multifocal toric IOL, axis is marked with toric marker pre-operatively.Appropriate clear corneal incisions are made and routine phaco surgery is performed from the vertical axis. Alcon AcrySof® IQ ReSTOR® Multifocal Toric IOL is implanted in the capsular bag and toric marks on the lens are aligned to the appropriate axis which was detected pre-operatively.

Results:

No complications developed during surgery avoiding IOL implantation in any of the patients.During post-operative follow up,no significant deviation in axis of multifocal toric IOL was observed.

Conclusions:

In selected cataract patients with corneal astigmatism greater than 1 diopter, implantation of Alcon AcrySof® IQ ReSTOR® Multifocal Toric Intraocular Lens is detected to be a safe and effective method. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE?: No
