Abstract Details

Purpose:

Toric IOLs are the biggest advance in IOL refractive technology in the last 10 years. For various reasons we don’t always obtain perfect refractive results. I will present a calculator for adjustment of the axis of rotation for a toric IOL postoperatively.

Setting:

Private Ophthalmic Practice

Methods:

Audit of 150 consecutive toric IOL cases, and analysis of postoperative astigmatic errors. Use of crossed cylinder calculations to derive the optimal rotation of a malpositioned toric IOL.

Results:

The formula correctly predicts optimal adjustment of a toric IOL alignment for optimal refractive results .

Conclusions:

This a useful tool for cataract surgeons implanting toric IOLs. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE?: No
