Abstract Details

Purpose:

To assess the efficacy of intraocular correction by Akreos ?? MI-60 lens through the 1, 8 mm tunnel corneal incision in cataract surgery.

Setting:

Irkutsk Branch of S. Fyodorov Eye Microsurgery Federal State Institution, Irkutsk, Russia.

Methods:

1150 Akreos ?? MI-60 lens was implanted in our clinic. MICS technology was used. Follow-up period was 2 years.

Results:

Analysis of results revealed the following Akreos ?? MI-60 advantages: small amount of posterior lens capsule fibrosis – 1, 4% (Laser discussion of posterior lens capsule was made in all patients); absence of even the minimal corneal astigmatism; stable lens in capsular bag owing the unique form of 4 supporting elements; areactivity; high visual acuity (visus 0,9) in absence of concomitant ocular pathology.

Conclusions:

. Akreos ?? MI-60 is the high-performance lens in modern cataract surgery, which ideally matches for bimanual and coaxial microinvasive technique. This lens secures high visual quality owing to aspheric optics, stability and simplicity of implantation. Decrease of optic segment thickness by 30% allowed implanting through incision with 1,8 mm width. At the same time the sharp edge of optics prevents from secondary cataract development.
