Purpose:
To present clinical outcomes of Tan EndoGlide (AngioTech, Network Medical Products, UK) and Busin Glide (Moria, FR) insertion techniques in DSEK (Descemet Stripping Endothelial Keratoplasty).
Setting:
Department of Ophthalmology, Collegium Medicum, Nicolaus Copernicus University, Bydgoszcz, Poland
Methods:
DSEK was performed in 24 eyes, in 8 cases the surgery was combined with cataract phacoemulsification and IOL implantation. Surgery course and 6 month postoperative results of first 12 eyes performed with the use of Tan EndoGlide were compared with 12 consecutive eyes preformed with Busin Glide.
Results:
The Tan EndoGlide provided more stable anterior chamber and the donor tissue unfolding process was better controlled. Unfortunately, it requires a wider incision, which results in higher surgically induced astigmatism: mean refractory cylinder 6 month after the surgery was 1.56 D in Tan Endoglide group and 1.18 D in Busin glide group (P <0.05). The endothelial cell loss was 20.5% and 21.12% respectively (P>0,05). Mean CDVA was 0.18 LogMAR and 0.2 LogMAR, respectively (P>0,05).
Conclusions:
The Tan EndoGlide provides better stabilization of the anterior chamber, however its use is connected with higher postoperative astigmatism. The visual outcomes and endothelial cell loss 6 month after the surgery were similar both groups. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE?: No
