Purpose:
To search prevalence of high myopia between 20 and 30 years old man which is living in ?stanbul.
Setting:
Kas?mpa?a Army Hospital Ophthalmology Service ,Beyo?lu,?STANBUL,TURKEY
Methods:
This study was constitued;the records of the patients who is between 20 and 30 years old man which was consulted for impaired vision in Kas?mpa?a Army Hospital Ophthalmology Service examined retrospectively among September 2006 and December 2011. High degree myopia (-6.00 and over) patient was determined. After routine ophtahlmological examination,refractive error was determined using subjective visual acuity followed by cycloplegic auto refraction and then high myopic patientÂ’s educatin level was compared.
Results:
According to the government demographic statistics, number of between 20 and 30 years old man which is living in ?stanbul –Europe side is 485.280 The study includes 2260 cases about which consulted for low vision in Kas?mpa?a Army Hospital Ophthalmolgy Service .High myopia was determined as %0.08 (n= 382) and the ratio of graduated university was detected as % 53 (n= 202)in this patient.
Conclusions:
Myopia is a vision problem and also high myopia is chronic degenerative condition which can create vision-threated problems.It might cause retinal damage or detachment.Also it is an important problem for public health and it must prevent ambliopia and high myopia induced complications
There was an association with the level of education with high myopia.The prevalence of high myopia increased when the level of education is increased. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE?: No
