Abstract Details
Purpose:
To report two cases of combined implantation of the Raindrop Near Vision Inlay ( ReVision Optics,Ins, Lake Forest, CA, USA ) and the Visian Implantable Collamer Lens ( ICL ) ( STAAR surgical, Monrovia, CA, USA ) to improve distance and near visual acuities in presbyopic ametropes.
Setting:
VISTA Gutiérrez Amorós Oftalmólogos, A Coruña, Spain
Methods:
Two patientes were implanted with the Raindrop Inlay in the non-dominant eye under a femtosecond flap to correct for presbyopia. The Visian ICL was subsequently implanted bilaterally to correct for residual refractive error. Postoperative measurements included: visual acuities for near and distance, slit lamp evaluation, optical coherence tomopgraphy, and topography.
Results:
The first case needed a toric ICL( -2.50/+3/008 ) and the second case used a spherical ICL (-5.00 D). The inlay was decentered inferiorly following ICL implatation in the first case and required repositioning. One week after repositioning, the ICL vaulted excessively in the same patient and an exchange was needed. Following the exchange, the inlay decentered again to the same position. Inlay recentration was performed again with stable results. No centration issues or complications were seen on the second case. Binocular UCVAs at 6 and 12M were 20/20 for distance and near. Both patients werw satisfied with their outcomes.
Conclusions:
Careful planning and timing are essential in limiting complications with combined procedures. Optically both devices provided good visual outcomes and high patient satisfaction. More clinical data are needed to further refine this combined refractive presbyopic procedure
