Abstract Details
Purpose:
To compare the visual outcomes between Acrysoft IQ PanOptix (Alcon) and PhysIol (FineVision) in a group of patients with cataract and presbyopia in our institution.
Setting:
Instituto de Oftalmología Fundación Conde de Valenciana México City
Methods:
We identified 20 eyes of 10 patients who were to perform cataract surgery and desired spectacle independence. We performed a retrospective comparative analysis in a single, reference center We included patients submitted to cataract surgery in the period of August 2015 to November 2015. Each patient underwent phacoemulsificaction cataract surgery and implantation of a multifocal IOL within the capsular bag. We had two main groups, 10 patients with Acrysoft IQ PanOptix (Alcon) and 10 patients with PhysIo(FineVision). Measurement of visual outcomes for near, intermediate and far distance was performed three months after the surgery. Finally, we compared these results between both groups.
Results:
A total of 20 eyes from 10 patients were included in our study. No statistical significance was found between the mean corrected visual acuity (LogMAR) between the two groups p = 0.257 at 60 cm, p= 0.113 at 30 cm. We obtained statistical significance for visual acuity at 40 cm p = 0.032, uncorrected vision was 20/30 or better in 100% of patients in both groups. We compared means using T student for quantitative variables.
Conclusions:
In summary, the use of IOLs with a trifocal diffractive design is having greater demands. Both lenses meet patients expectations restoring near, intermediate and far vision with spectacle independence. We demonstrated Acrysoft IQ PanOptix (Alcon) to better achieve this purpose.
