Abstract Details
Purpose:
Both refractive and visual outcomes after cataract surgery with Implantation of Lenstec SBL-3 are demonstrated. Contraindications will be mentionned as well
Setting:
A follow-up of 76 eyes consecutively provided with SBL-3 intraocular pseudophacic lenses
Methods:
76-eyes have been provided with SBL-3 bifocal intraocular pseudophacic lenses after cataract surgery. All eyes have been operated by the same surgeon. Visual as well as refractive outcomes are shown. Furthermore, indications and contraindications are discussed.
Results:
All eyes achieved far-distance vision of at least 20/24 in monocular examination. Binocular far-distance vision was even better in 26 patients. Binocular short-distance vision was at least 20/24 in all patients. 2 patients complained about blurred visison by night, 1 complained about seeing circles ovally shaped.
Conclusions:
SBL-3 is a good device for the intraocular correction of presbyopia after cataract surgery or refractive lens exchange. Preoperative corneal astigmatism is a limiting factor as well. Patients must know preoperatively about the risk of blurred vision by night an a slight ovally shaped visison of circles due to the bifocal principe.
