Abstract Details

Purpose:

Discuss the differences in acceptance and satisfaction after implantation of different multifocal lenses in females and males.

Setting:

Day Clinic Eye department, Private clinic Rau Cham

Methods:

We evaluate and compare the satisfaction of man and woman after the implantation of Lentis M plus X and Fine Vision in a study from 2014-2016 in 184 patients implanted bilaterally.92 patients were man,92 woman. The personal satisfaction of the patients 6 months after the implantation was assessed with a validated questionnaire. The requested explanation was monitored.

Results:

In a study performed between November 2014- February 2016we implanted the Lentis M plus X in 244 eyes of 122 patients and Fine vision in 124 eyes of 62 patients. The overall satisfaction of the woman after the implantation was higher than of the man. The asymmetric Lentis M plus X achieved even better satisfaction in male patients, Fine vision in female group. The explantation has to be performed only in one man.

Conclusions:

The overall satisfaction of the woman after the implantation of MFIOLs was higher. There is as well a difference in the acceptance of Lentis M plus X and fine Vision. The only one explanation was performed in man. Man are more demanding ,more difficult candidates for MFIOLs Implantation and have to be consult even more carefully.
