Abstract Details
Purpose:
To determine the visual outcomes and patient quality of life for novel, trifocal, hydrophobic IOL, the Alcon Acrysof IQ PanOptix
Setting:
Optegra Ophthalmology Clinics in Poznan and Szczecin, Poland
Methods:
A prospective single arm, non-randomized, multi-center study was conducted at two centers. The study included patients with cataract or presbyopia and bilateral implantation of Alcon Acrysof IQ PanOptix. 50 eyes of 25 subjects were operated by 3 surgeons. Uncorrected and corrected distance, intermediate and near visual acuity were measured. Patient quality of life survey was conducted at 3 month follow-up.
Results:
All patients benefited, to differing extents, from gained distance, intermediate and near visual acuity and improvement in life quality, however residual refractive error included several refractive surprises, due to nonoptimized IOL constants in the beginning of the study.
Conclusions:
Performance of Alcon Acrysof PanOptix gives promising visual outcomes, especially for intermediate vision verus bifocal IOLs. Further extension of this study will allow to compare the outcomes 6 and 12 months after lens implantation.
