Abstract Details
Purpose:
To demonstrate the utility of the Artisan myopia lens in cases of late in the bag IOL complex dislocation where no powers Artisan aphakia model are provided.
Setting:
Private Practice. Lleida, Spain
Methods:
Female 75 years old with a history of high myopia and bilateral cataract surgery showed late in the bag IOL complex dislocation in the left eye. We proposed removing the dislocated complex and a model iridian fixation IOL to correct the aphakia. However, the lowest power for this lens was +2 D. The solution to this problem was the introduction of a Artisan (-3 D) lens for correcting myopia, which has an estimated 103.8 A constan for negative power lenses using the SRK / T2 formula.
Results:
Three months after intervention, the refraction was +0.75 - 1.25 x 100 ° (0.125 D spherical equivalent) and corrected visual acuity (CDVA) was 20/100 (Snellen).
Conclusions:
IOL models iris fixation for the correction of myopia may use also in cases of late in the bag IOL complex dislocation in patients with high myopia, where the model does not offer aphakia lenses with negative powers. The result of the procedure may be more predictable using the formula SRK / T2.
