Abstract Details

Purpose:

To evaluate the feasibility of positioning of Visian ICL with central flow 45 degree counter clock wise from the horizontal axis, and its impact to the vault after the implantation.

Setting:

Chengdu Aier Eye Hospital 610041 No. 115 Yihuan Road, Chengdu, China

Methods:

This study included 625 eyes of 504 high myopia patients, with average age 25.8±8.07, with mean spherical equivalent refraction of -9.25±1.78D. All of them were implanted with Spherical Visian ICL with central flow. 129 eyes were positioned 45 degree counter clock wise from the horizontal axis (45 degree CCW group), 496 eyes were positioned horizontally (horizontal group).

Results:

Average vaults of 45 degree CCW group (from 250 to 780um) 1 week, 1 month, 3 months after the operation were 469.4±151.17um, 474.1±164.04um, 462.1±148.38um, respectively. Those of horizontal group (from 200 to 790um) were 500.4±179.94um, 388.3±148.06um, 347.9±137.04um. There is statistically significant difference between groups for vaults 1 month and 3 months after the surgery. For two groups, difference of ACD before and after the surgery were -1.0±0.27mm and -0.9±0.35mm, difference of anterior chamber angle before and after the surgery were -23.5±5.32 and -21.4±5.63 degree.UCVA 3 months after the surgery for two groups were 1.2±0.24 and 1.2±0.18 with no statistically significant difference.

Conclusions:

Positioning of Visian ICL with central flow 45 degree CCW from the horizontal axis was stable and feasible, which is an effective solution to avoid low vault after the surgery.
