Abstract Details
Purpose:
to see the outcome of a combined implantable contact lens implantation and strabismus surgery in a case of myopic animetropia and exotropia
Setting:
a 36 years old male patient underwent implantable contact lens implantation and strabismus surgery in a single sitting
Methods:
36 years old patient who had right eye best corrected visual acuity with -6dsph/-3dcylx90=6/9 and left eye with -0.5 dsph=6/6 having right exotropia of 60PD with poor stereopsis underwent phakic IOL implantation and right Lateral rectus recession of 7.5mm and right Medial rectus resection of 5.5mm by limbal approach together in the same sitting
Results:
good postoperative unaided visual acuity of 6/9 was achieved in the operated eye with good cosmetic outcome following strabismus surgery. a minimal angle of 5 degree under correction was noted. patient did not complain of postoperative diplopia
Conclusions:
good cosmetic and visual outcome can be achieved in patients with myopic anisometopia with strabismus performing a combined phakic IOL implantation and strabismus surgery. It saves time and provides faster cosmesis and visual rehabilitation in a single operation
