Abstract Details

Purpose:

To analize the outcome after Artiflex Toric ™ bilateral simultaneous implantation and how to evaluate objectively and manage a descentered optic in one eye.

Setting:

Centro Oftalmologico del Bages. Barcelona

Methods:

We describe a case of a young man 27 Y.O. presented with an unusual complication of iris – fixated phakic intraocular lens (pIOLs) . Total aberrometry and Retroilumination data with OPD Scan III (Nidek) were gathered to tailor an appropriate re enclavation site and to decide if one or two clips needs to change its position. Optic centration regarding entrance pupil were performed under topical anestesia.

Results:

Inmediate subjective recovery of night vision disturbance related to pIOLs decentration after one clip re enclavation.

Conclusions:

OPD map and retroilumination data are powerfull tools to help to gauge subjective complaint such halo or glare. Minimally displacement of one clip during a re enclavation maneuver could help to handle a 10-20 degree of descentration. More data should be necessary to analize in future study.
