Abstract Details
Purpose:
To determine the outcomes after LASIK in patients with myopic, hyperopic and astigmatism refractive errors.
Setting:
LASIK was performed using Moria microkeratome and Allegretto 400 Hz Wavelight laser
Methods:
Retrospective study involving random patients with myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism, who underwent LASIK for correction of refractive error. We excluded patients with amblyopia. All the patients were screened with Pentacam, dioptry measured in manifest and cycloplegic refraction, IOP measurement and fundus examination. Postoperative follow up was first, 5th and 30th day. Treated with Tobramycin 0.3% and Dexamethasone 0.1 % 4x daily for 2 weeks and artificial tears 6x daily for 30 days.
Results:
Total LASIK procedures 700 for 10 months. On the 1st postoperative day 26 patients had flap striae, 6 needed flap relifting, in 2 of them we used Mitomycin C. 21 eyes had DLK grade1 and 7 eyes DLK grade 2, 2 eyes DLK grade 3, Pressure-Induced Stromal Keratopathy was reported in 12 patients, Epithelial ingrowth in 37 patients, Infectious keratitis in 2 eyes, Central Toxic keratopathy in 5 eyes.
Maximal and fastest visual acuity measured 1.0 achieved myopic and myopic astigmatism patients . Hyperopic and hyperopic astigmatism patients as well as mixtus astigmatism patients had visual acuity improvement in the period of 1 month.
Conclusions:
Patient satisfaction after LASIK for myopia and myopic astigmatism appears to be excellent and is related to the residual refractive error postoperatively. The most of the interface complications resolve over time spontaneously. The most important is to determine the precise diagnosis rapidly, because the treatment is often opposite.
