Abstract Details
Purpose:
To describe the technique and outcomes of slit lamp irrigation for the management of LASIK flap striae.
Setting:
Private practice, Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, UK.
Methods:
Retrospective review of 32 eyes that underwent slit lamp irrigation for flap striae at the day one post-operative assessment following routine LASIK.
Results:
The slit lamp irrigation technique was found to be safe and effective. No patient required return to the Operating Room for further flap lifting/ reposition. Final visual acuity results were similar to that expected in the absence of day one postoperative LASIK flap striae.
Conclusions:
LASIK flap repositioning at the slit lamp was fast, effective and acceptable to patients without inducing unnecessary anxiety.
