Abstract Details
Purpose:
To follow a forme fruste keratoconus patient after ReLEx smile correction of myopic astigmatism
Setting:
Copenhagen Eye Centre
Methods:
Male myopic-astigmatic forme fruste keratoconus patient unable to use glasses due to dizziness and contact lenses because of discomfort had bilat ReLEx smile surgery.
Results:
Pre examination 2013 revealed forme fruste keratoconus. Pachymetry 564 / 568 um. UCVA: 0.4 / 0.15, BCVA: 1.2 -0.75 -1.50 x 15 / 1.0 +0.25 -3.75 59. Topography and vision unchanged one year later.
ReLEx smile 2014, correction OD: -1.00 -1.25 x 15, OS: +0.25 -3.75 x 59.
6 month post smile:
UCVA: 1.0 / 1.2, BCVA: 1.5 +0.50 -0.75 x 165 / 1.2
Pachymetry: 523 / 505 um.
12 month post smile:
UCVA: 1.2 / 1.2, BCVA: 1.5 +0.25 -0.50 x 150 / 1.2 +0.25
24 month
UCVA: 1.0 / 1.2, BCVA: 1.5 0.00 –0.75 x 155 / 1.5 -0.25 -0.25 x 175
Topography unchanged throughout the post smile period
Conclusions:
The forme fruste keratoconus was stable two years after ReLEx smile,
