Abstract Details
Purpose:
To evaluate my cohort of subjects implanted with a Raindrop® Near Vision Inlay (ReVision Optics, Inc., Lake Forest, CA, USA) as part of a multicenter prospective FDA IDE study.
Setting:
Parkhurst NuVision, San Antonio, TX, USA
Methods:
Thirty-nine (39) emmetropic presbyopes (MRSE: -0.50 D to +1.00 D) were implanted with the Raindrop Near Vision Inlay in the non-dominant eye under a femtosecond flap, centered over the light-constricted pupil. The implant is designed to change the curvature of the overlying cornea creating a gradient of power that improves near and intermediate vision. ETDRS visual acuities (near/intermediate/distance), manifest refraction, and Add powers were collected at preop, 1M, 3M, 6M, 9M, 12M, and 18M.
Results:
At 18M (n=38), average monocular near and intermediate visual acuities (logMAR) improved from preop (UNVA: 0.63 to 0.06, UIVA: 0.45 to 0.15). More than 84% of subjects were 20/25 or better (binocular UCVAs) at near, intermediate, and distance. MRSE remained stable with more than 95% of subjects with less than 0.50 D change 3M to 18M. Average Add power decreased from preop (+1.66 D) to 1M (+0.13 D) and remained stable out to 18M (+0.11 D).
Conclusions:
Raindrop Inlay improves near and intermediate vision and provides full range of functional binocular vision. Refraction and Add power stabilizes shortly after implantation and remains consistent out to 18 months.
