Purpose:
To report 4 eyes in 3 patients of lens dislocation treated with femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery combined with modified capsular tension ring
Setting:
Taipei Medical University Wanfang Hospital
Methods:
Case reports
Results:
4 eyes in 3 patients of lens dislocation treated with LensAR femtosecond laser and modified capsular tension ring(CTR). Anterior capsulotomy and lens fragmentation were centered to the apex of the subluxated lens. Modified Cionni type sclera-fixated CTR or CTR segments were implanted to stabilize the capsular bag before intraocular lens implantation. There was no intraoperative and postoperative complication and the intraocular lens (IOL) remained well centered with improved visual acuity at three months postoperative visit.
Conclusions:
Femtosecond laser anterior capsulotomy and lens fragmentation reduce the need of further intraoperative maneuver and decrease the risk of progression of pre-existing zonular damage, which combined with the use of modified CTR provide a safer alternative for the management of dislocated or subluxated cataractous lenses.
