Abstract Details

Purpose:

To evaluate 3 months clinical results of Femto LASIK with flap creation by LenSx® Laser

Setting:

refractive department of “Noviy Zir” ophthalmosurgical clinic, Ukraine, Kyiv

Methods:

a prospective descriptive study was conducted on a total of 45 eyes undergoing surgery to correct various degrees of myopia, by Femto LASIK technique. All procedures were performed by the same surgeon using the LenSx® Laser (Alcon) femtolaser for flap creation and Schwind Amaris®500 Excimer laser (SCHWIND eye-tech-solutions GmbH&Co., Germany) for stroma ablation. We analysed the postoperative refraction, postoperative visual acuity, and postoperative complication.

Results:

The preoperative SE was -4.87D±1.24. Average preoperative cylinder was -1.5D±0.46. At 3 months post FemtoLASIK it was obtained an UCDVA > 0.8 in 96% of cases, while 93% of operated eyes showed an UCDVA equal to 1.0 or higher. At 3 months postoperatively, the percentage of eyes that achieved within ±0.25D was 92%, ±0.5D was 98%, ±1.0D was 100%. Flap creation procedure: easy docking, stable vacuum, fast flap creation. Postoperative complication: DLK 1st stage – 4,4% (2 eyes).

Conclusions:

FemtoLASIK to correct myopia is a safe and effective procedure using LenSx® Laser to create the flap.
