Nepafenac vs fluorometholone in allergic conjunctivitis

Abstract Details
Purpose:
Comparing the effect of nepafenac (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID’s )) versus Fluorometholone(Steroids ) in allergic conjunctivitis in upper Egypt.
Setting:
Fayoum University Hospital and Beni Suef University Hospital
Methods:
Thirty patient(60 eyes) having allergic conjunctivitis was randomly assigned to group A: nepafenac group (30 eyes) and group B : Fluorometholone group (30 eyes) . All patients were having full Ophthalmic examination and assesment using The Cornea and Contact Lens Research Unit (CCLRU) grading scale.
Results:
There was 53.3% males in both groups with a mean age of 18.07±8.5 in group A and 21.5±8.2 in group B. There was no statistical significance between both groups regarding Bulbar redness, Limbar_redness, Lid_redness, Lid Roughness With Light Reflex, Lid Roughness Flourescene , Corneal staining type, Corneal staining depth , Corneal staining extent, Papillae, Chemosis, Discharge, Itching.
Conclusions:
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs is an alternative option for the traetment of allergic conjunctivitis.
