Purpose:
Comparative evaluation of the efficacy of intra vitreal triamcinolone acetonide injection versus that of posterior sub tenon triamcinolone acetonide injection in intermediate uveitis.
Setting:
Krishna Eye Care, Thane, Mumbai, India
Methods:
40 patients with intermediate uveitis were divided in 2 groups of 20 each.group a was treated with intra vitreal ta 4 mg in 0.1ml and group b was treated with posterior sub tenon ta 40mg in 1 ml.
Patients were evaluated week 1 week 4 week 8 and week 10 for bcva, vitrous cells,IOP and lenticular haze
Results:
Mean BCVA and vitreous cellular activity improved in both groups. iop rise was seen in 7 patients with ivta and in 2 with post sub tenons ta injection. no development or progression of lens haze wasThe difference in the eficacy due the route of administartion of ta was statistically insignificant seen in either group.
Conclusions:
