Abstract Details

Purpose:

To study the behavior of the measure of the IOP in a healthy population conducting a comparative study between ORA, Corvis and GAT tonometers

Setting:

GAT has been the gold standar tonometer. In recent times have been developed new tonometers that take into account the corneal biomechanical properties. Reproducibility is not yet established

Methods:

ORA IOP measures, Corvis and GAT measures patients were performed in 110 eyes of 55 in a healthy population with no history of disease or ophthalmologic surgery.

Results:

The difference between IOP in OD and OI measured with GAT was 14.80 ± 2.7 OD vs 14.2 ± 3.8 OI p = 0.1; Corvis IOP 13.9 ± 2.1 OD vs 15.1 ± 4.0 OI p = 0.08; IOPcc 16.39 ± 3.69 OD vs 16.2 ± 3.9 OI p = 0.1; IOPg 15.9 ± 2.6 OD vs 15.7 ± 3.98 OI p = 0.2. We maked a comparison of IOP obtained by GAT with that obtained by Corvis and ORA: GAT IOP vs Corvis IOP p = 0.1, GAT IOP vs IOPcc p = 0.0003 and GAT IOP vs IOPg p = 0.009.

Conclusions:

We found no statistically significant differences between OD and OI in the pressure obtained by the different tonometers used in this study. The tonometer measures obtained with the 3 tonometers are comparable, but in our study we found less difference between GAT and Corvis between GAT and ORA
