Abstract Details
Purpose:
To report a succesfull descement membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) in a patient with congenital hereditary endothelial dystropy (CHED).
Setting:
DMEK, CHED, Descement stripping endothelial keratoplasty, penetrating keratoplasty
Methods:
: A 22 year old female presented with decreased vision, corneal clouding on her left eye. Two yeras ago the right eye was operated with penetrating keratoplasty. In the left eye, she was planned for DMEK.
Results:
DMEK surgery resulted in clearing of the clouding cornea, decreased corneal thickness and corneal edema resolving. Pre and post of performing anterior segment optical coherence tomography (OCT) and corneal topography reported that our surgery succesful. Best corrected visual accuity increased 3 metres counting fingers to 0.70 logmar.
Conclusions:
: To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported case of succesful DMEK in a patient with CHED.
