The role of modern diagnostics in the selection of successful toric IOL to the patient who has undergone keratoplasty: a clinical case

Abstract Details

Purpose:

The present a clinical case of phacoemulsification with intraocular correction of high degree astigmatism with toric IOL, designed using modern diagnostic equipment.

Setting:

Ophthalmological Clinic 'Eye Surgery' Samara, Russia

Methods:

The patient with incomplete complicated cataract, high degree of astigmatism (diopters 7,11), deforming annular scar of the cornea after previously migrated keratoplasty performed phacoemulsification with implantation of IOL AcrySof IQ Toric SN6AT9 26,5 D-6,00 CYL. The calculation of the IOL held in the Em goal refraction of±0.5 diopters at the optical biometer 'LENSTAR LS900' the Hoffer Q formula, Haiqis, Holladay, SRK/T. the direction of the strong axis of the cornea was determined on optical biometer 'LENSTAR LS900' and 'PENTACAM'. For the calculation of IOL was used website 'www.acrysoftoriccalculator.com'.

Results:

Operation and postoperative period without complications. Vision 0,8 observed the next day after surgery and remained stable during the following days and in the long term. Postoperative refraction: sph – 0,25 cyl D – 0,50 D ax 59.

Conclusions:

The use of high-precision diagnostic equipment that ensures the successful selection of a toric IOL with a high functional outcome in patients with high postoperative astigmatism.
