Abstract Details
Purpose:
To demonstrate our results of ReStor (multifocal) IOL in patients having undergone prior RK surgery.
Very few studies have been carried out for the same and we wish to share our experiences and insights.
Setting:
Gulani Vision Institute, Jacksonville, Fl
Methods:
We retrospectively studied 14 eyes having undergone previous RK surgery, which were implanted with Restore IOLs with/without laser PRK. Data was analysed.
Results:
All eyes had good outcomes following the surgery. We found that ReStore IOLs could be a good choice in carefully selected RK patients who desire spectacle free vision post cataract surgery.
Conclusions:
Few studies have been done on using multifocal IOLs in post RK patients undergoing cataract surgery. Many state RK as a contraindication of using multifocal IOLs. Our results are encouraging and we propose that in selected patients they are a good option (as subjectively confirmed). A correct mindset and meticulous examination helps achieve success in such patients.
