Abstract Details
Purpose:
To review the indications for AC-IOL implantation, and to show the surgical techniques.
Setting:
Department of Ophthalmology, University of Pécs, Hungary
Methods:
Primary and secondary AC-IOL implantation is indicated in special cases, when there is not enough support for PC-IOL implantation. Short videofilms will demonstrate the surgical techniques.
Results:
Depending on the cause of (primary or secondary) AC-IOL implantation, and whether there are coexisting ocular pathologies, quick visual rehabilitation and 0.5 or better VA can be achieved in over 70% of the cases.
Conclusions:
Modern (flexible, open-loop) AC-IOLs can be safely used in selected cases.
With secondary AC-IOL implantation better results can be achieved on the long run compared to the primary implantation.
