Abstract Details
Purpose:
To compare and evaluate the visual outcomes (distance, intermediate and near) between Finevision Trifocal and the latest version Lentis Mplus X IOL following 1 year of cataract surgery
Setting:
Patients were recruited from Vista Eye Specialist The Curve, Petaling Jaya Malaysia.
Methods:
Post-operative visual outcomes of 30 eyes with Lentis Mplus X IOLs implanted were compared with the result of another 30 eyes implanted with Trifocal IOLs. Uncorrected visual acuity for distance (UCDVA), intermediate (UCIVA) and near (UCNVA) were evaluated at 1 year after surgery.
Results:
At post-op 1 year, the mean UCDVA was 0.05±0.07 logMAR with 96% (28eyes) achieving 20/32 (6/9.6) or better, mean UCIVA was 0.05±0.07 logMAR with 100% (30eyes) achieving 20/32 or better and mean UCNVA was 0.07±0.06 logMAR with 100% (30eyes) achieving J4 (N6) or better in Lentis Mplus X eyes. The mean UCDVA was 0.07±0.09 logMAR with 75% (24 eyes) achieving 20/32 (6/9.6) or better, mean UCIVA was 0.06±0.09 logMAR with 83% (25eyes) achieving 20/32 or better and mean UCNVA was 0.11±0.08 logMAR with 73% (25eyes) achieving J4 (N6) or better in Trifocal implanted eyes.
Conclusions:
Our study showed that there is statistically significant improvement in only the unaided near vision (p=0.012) with latest version Lentis Mplus X when compared with Trifocal.
