A phacosystem with new data follow-up: quality management

Abstract Details

Purpose:

Data per U/S emulsification case are stored in the phaco system. To analyze them helps to reconfirm settings, to adopt settings and to performe statistics of these data.

Setting:

AugenCentrum, 83022 Rosenheim/Germany, Bahnhofstrasse 12

Methods:

The new phacoemulsification system Whitestar Signature PRO can be connected to WiFi via the local network or internet. Data of fluidics und U/S-settings and data used per case are transfered by the cataract analysis and settings application (CASA) to an iPad APP. Case per surgeon, intraoperative curves and data as seen on the overlay of the surgical media center (SMC) are displayed in charts.

Results:

Results of the 50 patients will be presented. Data of used U/S energy, effective phaco time, % of power used unoccluded and occluded situations as well as time per cases during the day are measured, colleted for a single patient as horizontal analysis and for the whole group of patients as vertical analysis.

Conclusions:

Recording and presenting these data on charts allows us to follow and to compare these data. This ist the basic information for quality controll of surgery. Automated export and storing these data helps the surgeon to fullfill this task.
