Purpose:
To compare the accuracy of the SRK/T, Haigis suite, Hoffer Q formulas in IOL master 700 and SRK/II fomula in conventional A scan ultrasound biometry. To evaluate the effect of average corneal power (K) and axial length (AL) in IOL master 700 for the refractive outcome in SRK/T, Haigis suite, Hoffer Q formula.
Setting:
Restrospective cross-sectional study.
Methods:
Fourty eyes of 40 consecutive patients who underwent phacoemulsification with implantation of a i-sert 250 (Hoya Corp., Tokyo, Japan) were enrolled. In order to compare the accuracy of the different formulas, the predicted refractive errors were calculated in each formula. The predicted refractive error was the difference in postoperative 2 week refractive spherical equivalent and the preoperative predicted refraction. The correlation among the K, AL, and predicted refractive error in SRK/T, Haigis suite, Hoffer Q formulas was analyzed.
Results:
The predicted refractive errors of SRK/T, Haigis, Hoffer Q IOL master 700 were -0.09 ± 0.65D, -0.06 ± 0.63D, -0.06 ± 0.65D, respectively. The predicted refractive error of SRK/II A scan ultrasound biometry was -0.15 ± 0.76 D. The predicted refractive errors were not statistically significant among formulas (all p>0.05). AL was not significantly correlated in predicted refractive error in SRK/T, Haigis suite, Hoffer Q formulas. Corneal power (K) was significantly correlated with predicted refractive error in Haigis suite (ρ=0.476), Hoffer Q (ρ=0.382).
Conclusions:
The predicted refractive errors calculated in each formula were not statistically significantly different in postoperative 2 weeks. The predicted refractive errors in Haigis suite and Hoffer Q have positive correlation with corneal power (K).
