Abstract Details
Purpose:
To describe the complications for the cataract surgery after the intravitreal injections (IVT).
Setting:
In the last decade, the number of the intravitreal injections is increasing geometrical. The intraocular complications after this kind of procedure are most frequent.
Methods:
The follow-up for one patient treated by intravitreal injections for exudative macular degeneration is presented. 4 days after his 15 IVT in the right eye, the patient complains a sudden visual loss. A white-dense cataract was observed and the injury on the lens during the IVT was suspected.
Results:
This video shows the particularities of surgical approach for this traumatic cataract: type of anesthesia, choice of viscoelastic, capsulorhexis size, nucleus removing technique in the presence of large capsular rent, type of intraocular lens.
Conclusions:
The traumatic cataract after the IVT is a serious danger for the visual rehabilitation, especially by the necessity of repeating IVT.
