Abstract Details
Purpose:
To evaluate outcomes of management of profound zonular weakness using capsule support device
Setting:
Dnipropetrovsk regional ophthalmic clinic
Methods:
We retrospectively studied 20 eyes of 21 patients which underwent surgery from July 2015 to February 2016 . In all cases capsular bag was sutured to the sclera without conjunctival dissection ( Hoffman scleral pockets) prior or after phacoemulsification or aspiration . In 16 cases it was used in conjunction with CTR.We have used these devise in a variety of cases , including blunt traumatic zonular rupture (3), lens subluxation secondary to to pseudoexfoliation(15) and hereditary zonular pathologies such as primary ectopia lentis (2 eyes of one patient), late capsular bag CTR IOL complex dislocation (1).
Results:
Good functional and anatomical outcomes were achieved in all cases.
No device-related complications were observed .
Conclusions:
Capsule support devise is effective tool in management of severe zonular weakness
