Abstract Details

Purpose:

To evaluate the safety and efficacy of WO vs TG in myopic LASIK.

Setting:

The Laservision.gr Clinical and Research Institute, Athens, Greece

Methods:

42 consecutive patients were evaluated for peri-operative UDVA, CDVA, refractive error, ablation contraption, cornea topometric symmetry, wavefront analysis, contrast sensitivity, and possible complications. One eye from each patient was randomly assigned to WO femto LASIK, the contralateral eye has TG LASIK correction Follow-up was up to 1 year.

Results:

Respective WO and TG mean values: Refractive error: -4.25 and -4.15 Diopters; UDVA 20/19 and 20/12: CDVA 20/15 and 20/10; Cornea symmetry (IHD) 0,010 and 0,004; Wavefront Rmsh: 0.35 um and 0.19um. All data including contrast sensitivity were statistically superior in the TG group of eyes.

Conclusions:

Topography-guided laser refractive correction may offer superior refractive outcomes to WO
