Abstract Details
Purpose:
To present an L-shaped pocket incision which is an asymmetric scleral tunnel incision with an L-shaped entrance, used for large IOL optic implantation and explantation.
Setting:
McMaster University, Ontario, Canada
Methods:
Dislocated 6mm PMMA IOL, acrylic and silicone foldable IOLs can be removed through a 3×3mm L-shaped pocket incision. Similarly, large optic phakic IOLs can be implanted through such incision. The technique will be presented.
Results:
The L Shaped pocket incision is safe and induces minimal astigmatism compared to traditional 6.00 mm inciisions. Supporting data will be presented.
Conclusions:
The L shaped incision provides an alternative technique for IOL manipulation in ocular surgery.
