Abstract Details
Purpose:
To demonstrate the unique surgical technique of canaloplasty ab interno in pseudophacic eyes and in combined phaco-canaloplasty.
Setting:
Augencentrum Koeln, Germany
Methods:
: In pseudophacic eyes as a stand-alone procedure and in combined operations ( phaco-canaloplasty ab interno) Schlemm´s canal is puncured and dilated with the Visco 360 Viscosurgical instrument(Sight Sciences,Menlo Park,CA,USA). The first cases in Europe ( N= 8) are analysed and the technique is demonstrated by video. Indication for surgery was uncontrolled IOP or allergy to medication (6 of 8 cases).
Results:
In 8 patients with combined cataract-canaloplasty operation the pre-op IOP and the IOP after 1 and three months are 17,3 mmHg ,15,87 mmHg and in one patient 13 mmHg respectively. Medication was pre-Op in mean 2,6 and at the last visit no medication was neccessary.
Conclusions:
Ab interno canalopasty with the Visco 360 device is a new MIGS procedure for the surgical treatment of open angle glaucoma. The technique is rather easy to learn and the first results are promising. Long term studies are neccessary to evaluate the stability oft he IOP reduction.
