Abstract Details
Purpose:
To investigate results at three month after ReLEx smile correction in the full myopic range (-9.25 to -0.75 D SEQ)
Setting:
283 myopic (133 F / 150 M, age range 17 to 58 years) eyes corrected by experienced smile surgeon at Copenhagen Eye Centre using the ReLEx smile procedure.
Methods:
Predictability, accuracy / precision and SEQ error were measured at three month after ReLEx smile treatment.
Results:
Three month after ReLEx smile treatment there was a close correlation between Achieved and Attempted SEQ (y = 0.96 X- 0.23, R²= 0.97). Accuracy was -0.06 D SEQ. With regard to precision, 89 % of the eyes were within +/- 0.5 D SEQ and 99 % were within +/- 1.0 D SEQ. There were no significant changes in error SEQ with changes in attempted SEQ.
Conclusions:
ReLEx smile is a predictable, accurate and precise laser method correcting myopia in the full range. Considering the minimal and flap free corneal procedure, the rapid visual recovery and minimal patient discomfort, the method should be todays “state of the art” correcting myopia in the full range
