Abstract Details
Purpose:
Since its first use in 2008, Femtolaser Assisted Cataract Surgery (FLACS) is gaining popularity in many countries to reduce phaco energy, and for better centration of PC-IOLs especially premium (multifocal and toric) IOLs.
Setting:
1.) Department of Ophthalmology, Medical University of Pécs, Hungary
2.) OPTIMUM Eye Laser Center, Budapest, Hungary
Methods:
Recently we started to use ”zero phaco” FLACS, when after performing the capsulorhexis, the +1 to +2 grade catartact is successfully fragmented in a grid-like pattern to 400-500 micron cubes, using the VICTUS Femtolaser (Bausch & Lomb).
Results:
After nucleofractis the small pieces can be successfully aspirated and removed with 300-400 Hgmm Irrigation-aspiration only, throug a 2.2 mm clear cornea incision.
Conclusions:
We postulate, that with the routine use of zero-phaco we can further reduce the damage to the endothelial cells, which results in better postoperative visual acuity and quicker rehabilitattion of our patients.
